The year was 1993 and Alan Bryce had a vision to change the relationship between moving companies and corporations so that the needs of the transferring employees were paramount rather than having them adhere to the limited capacities and restrictive schedules of the van lines. He wanted to start a move management brokerage firm that would provide a variety of services from a number of suppliers that would actually change the dynamics of moving by positioning his company and clients to receive only the best services offered by movers. Therefore, with 20 years of experience underneath his belt through various sales and executive positions he had held with a number of van lines, Alan began his company to achieve that dream.
As their volumes grew to over a thousand moves a year, Passages reputation with corporations and within the moving industry grew as well. Passages’ name became known for quality and integrity, and moving companies quickly learned they had to deliver superior service to every one of Passages’ transferees, or they would risk losing any future business.
Today, a number of van lines are competing for Passages’ business. This allows them to carefully select whom they work with, providing their clients with an unprecedented level of service. Passages always has a number of movers to work with, and they always have the capacity to move anyone at anytime anywhere in the world, without a client ever having to worry about seasonal overbooking or limited single van lines capacities. In addition, no matter how small the volume of household goods moves that any one corporation may have, they all are treated by the van lines as one of Passages’ important high level moves. This is why Passages has delivered exceptional service to their corporate clients year in and year out. No individual mover, van line or relocation company has this flexibility and commitment to service.
In 2001, Passages expanded their move management services to add full relocation services to their portfolio. Many companies expressed interest in having Passages supply them with all-inclusive relocation and move management services with a single point of contact. Passages applied the same principles to their full relocation services as they did to their move management services in order to achieve a seamless relocation from beginning to end. Now corporations have the choice to use either Passages move management services, if that is all your company needs, or you can choose from a complete suite of relocation services.
Since corporations and transferees asked Passages to supply them with all-inclusive relocation and move management services, this is exactly what we did for them—providing them a service that is personalized, passionate and professional.
Passages is an independent move management company and is not restricted by the policies and availability of any single brand moving company or van line. Passages only selects the best carriers and follows each and every aspect of a move to make certain the best interests of their corporate clients are looked after, from start to finish.
Due to the large volumes of moves, Passages is able to negotiate larger volume discounts from their suppliers, which helps reduce costs.
Much like a travel agent or an insurance broker, Passages fees are paid by the movers as part of a built-in sales commission that is part of their tariffs. Those commissions are either paid to the van line salespeople or to Passages who acts in the role as a salesperson to the movers. Passages never charges additional fees to their clients for move management services.
